FOR PIMPLES TREATMENT.
Indications RA, OA; dermatologic diseases; inflammation of joint & tendon sheaths.
Dosage By intra-articular or intradermal inj. Small joint: 2.5-5 mg. Large joint: 5-15 mg.
Contraindications Systemic fungal infection; lactation; unstable or infected joints.
Special Precautions Unusual stress, intercurrent infection; immunization; hypothyroidism, cirrhosis; active or latent TB; ocular herpes simplex; mental illness; GI disorders susceptible to hemorrhage; renal insufficiency, HTN, heart failure; diabetes; osteoporosis; thromboembolic disorders; glaucoma; myasthenia gravis; pregnancy. W/drawal.
Adverse Drug Reactions Local atrophy. IA: Post-inj flare, pigmentation changes, sterile abscess, Charcot-like arthropathy. Systemically, Na & fluid retention, peptic ulcer w/ possible perforation; decreased carbohydrate tolerance; impaired wound healing, thin fragile skin, purpura, striae; muscle weakness, steroid myopathy, osteoporosis, aseptic necrosis; cataracts, increased IOP, protein catabolism; cushingoid state, growth retardation; aggravation of preexisting psychiatric conditions; increased intracranial pressure.
Drug Interactions Efficacy reduced by phenytoin, phenobarb, rifampicin. May reduce the effects of diuretics, hypoglycemics, anticholinesterases, salicylates.
